If you've navigated here from Socialretard or Heyrocker's page, then yes, the rumors are true -- Kza aint SIFFin this year. The reasons are numerous, but they can be adequately summed up in the titular phrase. But seeing how the above two have taken to SIFF like ducks to water, I'm making a pledge right here and now: Not only am I going to SIFF next year... I'm saving up for the Full Series Pass. Plus the Secret Fest.
Yeah.
So while I'm out getting a job, why not enjoy the following SIFF links?
As mentioned earlier, Socialretard and Heyrocker are on the scene. But also check out Roya's blog, where she also keeps an Audience Watch. (There's a short film, maybe a documentary or PSA, in there somewhere, guys.) She's also started a public Flickr page with SIFF photos -- I feel like I'm there, sitting for hours! Ken Rudolph is the king of crazy SIFFing. Vern usually sees a few titles in between Seagal sightings. Shawn Sylvian is there; unfortunately, Kyle Smith appears not to be. The Stranger has things, no doubt ribald, to say; Fuck the Seattle Weekly, hurry up and die already.
Oh, and the main SIFF page is here.
Where we saw it: general | We deign to rate it: $0 outta 100Hmm... I didn't realize this fest was so damn long. A Full Series pass wouldn't do me much good (I can't get that much time off work), but I could probably swing a pair of Weekly Passes. Guess I need to save up, too...
Oh, and the title of this post reminded me of another comment I had on the 'test' mix: I thought I was the only one in the world who knew that Los Umbrellas song. That song shoulda been a huge summer smash -- like "Macarena" big. Why it wasn't is beyond me.
Posted by: Steve at May 31, 2006 04:10 PMAnd something just occurred to me while perusing the Cineblog: I think I could get press credentials through Blogcritics (I know SIFF tickets popped up on the review-materials radar a couple weeks ago)... how cool would that shit be...
Posted by: Steve at May 31, 2006 04:21 PMNow that's what I'm talkin' bout! I guess I'll have to save up my vacation time for next year so I can consider the Full Series pass too (or at least a Weekly). I want to fully submerge myself in the madness next year. If I can keep blogging regularly and do some networking, maybe I can get good to the press credential thing too.

Funny -- I actually thought it *was* a big smash. I remember seeing the video all the time on TV. Although, the 1/2 year on the chart suggests to me that it got popular in various parts of the U.S. at different times, but never at the same time, thus never pushing it into Top 40 territory.
Too bad. "Sweep" from the same album was really good , too.
Of course, about 14 years earlier there was *this* No Tengo Dinero (Warning: stupid & catchy):
